"I grew up looking after my family's mini menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, reptiles, fish and insects. Since most kids my age thought that my childhood heroes (James Herriot, Steve Irwin) were boring, you can imagine that my pets were better friends for me than other kids. My parents were gems, suffering through my gerbils' "tube city" in the basement, buying the best shoes for my horses instead of for themselves, and never refusing the skinny, the mangy, or the abandoned that I carried home (or the Flemish giant rabbit that I won at a fair).
Their rule was: you can have him, but YOU have to care for him - until the end. I took this role seriously and am grateful that they were strict, because it fostered a strong dedication to and understanding of proper animal care. Happy Hearts is proving to be a great fit for me already, as Lee and her excellent team have a perfect mix of absolute expertise and TONS of love to give. I am so grateful to be on board!
I have experience - and am comfortable - with all sizes of dogs and many breeds. My current pets are Chloe the Golden retriever who loves to show off her old shoe collection, Luna the black and white cat who talks more than anybody I know, and Louie the Leopard gecko, the only guy I know who loves insects as much as I do."
I have had the pleasure of working as an independent contractor with Happy Hearts Pet Care since 2003. I have cared for pets just about all of my life, from childhood family pets through the present. Over the years I've worked with several rescue and shelter organizations around Boston and here in Ann Arbor. I am presently volunteering at the Humane Society of Huron Valley.
I work pretty much just with cats and other small animals.
I live in Ann Arbor with two cats, Bob (pictured with me here) and Sparkler who likes to hide under the bed, and I have two others being fostered. I love them all dearly. I will give your pets the same kind of reliable, loving care that I give my own and for which Happy Hearts has been known for over 20 years.

I've been living in Ypsilanti for 6 years. I currently live by myself and I spend most of my time pet sitting! I've had cats and dogs my whole life, and I love them so much working with them is a dream come true for me.
I don't have any pets of my own at the moment, which just means I have more time for yours!
I love getting to know animals and all their different personalities. I've been pet sitting for friends and family since I was a teenager and I joined the Happy Hearts Pet Care team in September 2017.
Pictured is me kissing a dog at the doggy daycare I used to work at!
I have worked with Happy Hearts Pet Care since January 2014. I have been a pet sitter in the Ann Arbor area for over 10 yrs.
I was born and raised in Ann Arbor and started caring for neighbors pets when I was about 10yrs old. I have three grown children who also have a strong love for animals and they are starting to give me four legged grand children!!!
In the picture with me is our 3yr old calico named "Winnie" and our 11 month old golden "Josie".
I have the best job in the whole world !!! I will love and care for your pets as I do my own!!
Growing up, I was constantly surrounded by pets, loving them from the earliest age I can remember. My family had barn cats, horses, cows, and always at least one family dog.
Once I was on my own and off to college, I quickly realized the biggest void in my life— not having a pet! I got my dog Wolfgang (an Australian Shepherd) during my second year of school while I was living in Kalamazoo.
After getting an Associate’s degree in English, Wolf and I moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia, where I got my Bachelor’s degree in English literature from University of Mary Washington. Post graduation, I was offered an internship with the National Parks Service. This helped remind me how much I loved working outside. In my spare time, I began to do some dog-sitting, and that just kept expanding as time went on.
After spending five years in Virginia, it was time to move a little closer to home. My boyfriend Andy and I and our dogs (Max, basset/lab) just moved up to Ann Arbor in the spring of 2017! We are loving the change of pace, and I am so grateful to have found a place at Happy Hearts that allows me to love on and care for more pets every day! I honestly can’t imagine a better job than this one.
I am excited to say I started working with Happy Hearts Pet Care in November 2015. It is so much fun meeting, and taking care of all my new pet friends. My favorite part of the job is taking the midday walk outside with the dogs, but I enjoy playing and caring for the cats too!
I have lived in Ann Arbor for over 40 years, and love this city. I am a graduate from Eastern Michigan University, and have a background in medical, dental assisting, and horticulture. My two grown daughters also live in Ann Arbor. Animals and gardening have always been my passion. When I worked at a local plant nursery, my favorite part of the day was being greeted by the nursery cat. I currently own 2 mini-Aussies, Shadow and Tati, and a 21 year old tabby named Sam.
As a former client of Happy Hearts Pet Care, it was comforting to know I had a sitter that I could trust to take care of my dogs while I was at work. My goal as a sitter is to treat your pets with the respect, care, and companionship the same way as if they were my own.
Hello my name is Michelle Caryl, I live in the Saline area with my family, along with our playful golden retriever Darby and curious kitten Sophie.
My love for animals began as a child, growing up we always had pets ranging from dogs to hamsters. As an adult I have been a pet/home sitting hobbyist for my family members, friends, and neighbors, and that is when I realized I wanted to turn my hobby into a career.
Pet care is very important to me so I continue to educate myself with seminars, attending local events and by joining the Happy Hearts Pet Care team.
I look forward to the opportunity to earn your trust and to be able to give your pets the same love and companionship as you do.
I have had the pleasure of working with Happy Hearts Pet Care since 2002! The high standards of care we provide is the same level of care that I give my own pets that I love so very much. My husband and I have been area residents for over 46yrs and support several animal shelters and rescue groups. Our family pets are an Australian Shepard, Annie, a mini Schnauzer, Gracia Mae and Sammy the Cockatiel. All of whom we adopted from rescues.
When I tell people I am a pet sitter they often ask me how I deal with extreme weather conditions and I say, by dressing for success the pet sitter way! A variety of quality, moisture repellent and warm, warmer, warmest coats and boots. My motto is - the mail must go through and the dogs must go poo!

Hello! My name is Carly and I’m a pet sitter with Happy Hearts Pet Care. I have always have had a love and passion for animals since I was very little. I grew up with animals ranging from rabbits, guinea pigs, Zebra finches, parakeets, cockatiels, fish, cats, and dogs.
My love for animals has also translated through my career choices. I was a professional dog groomer for over four years and worked at a pet boutique. I love working with and taking care of senior and rescue pets. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering with local rescue groups. I’ve taken pet CPR and have done internships at a vet office and a wildlife rescue.
My husband and I share our home with a spunky pointer mix named Izzy, and a calico cat named Marble.
I treat each individual pet in my care as it was a part of my own family and take in consideration each one of their individual needs and personalities. I look forward to providing extra special care and love to your furry family members while you are away!
